St. James Church and its History
Travel through time at St. James Church. Relive the history of the Recollets, their departure during the British conquest, and September 23, 1760, the day that the citizens of Trois-Rivières put down their weapons and pledged their allegiance to the British crown, and end your voyage by learning about the Anglican community in Trois-Rivières.
“Trowel Time!” Activity
Be an archaeologist for a day! Using a trowel and a brush to search for treasures from the past, you will learn about the history of Trois-Rivières. During the archaeological dig, you will find artefacts to help you learn about how people lived in the past. These amazing and interesting objects bear witness to the history of Trois-Rivières. Wonderful discoveries await you!
Amerindian Crafts and Dance
Come and learn how people travelled through Amerindian territory before and during the time of New France. At the border, we must show our passes, which will guarantee our peace, safety and bartering rights. Dance and singing are also part of the exchange protocol. Make your own pass and learn how we became allies, friends and family, through dance and song...
Historical Rally
See the places, monuments, buildings, people and events that marked the early history of Trois-Rivières. Activities at the Forges-du-Saint-Maurice National Historical Site of Canada will show you how people lived during the time of New France.
” Sur la Grande tortue” Show
Heading north, we come to lakes that are still frozen. One of them is too big to portage, so we must wait on the shore. Wait for the ice to disappear... At night, we sit around the fire and share food and drink. Now it is time to tell stories, to share what we know. And, adds the Indian guide, it’s time for the children to learn about: the creation of the world, the one before the Great Water. Before men became animals, or the other way around! An hour filled with magic and rituals. A different way to see the world...
